Giulia Giapponesi

A director and screenwriter, Giulia Giapponesi uses documentary filmmaking to inspire, educate, and engage audiences on themes such as social justice, human rights, and art. In addition to Bella Ciao – For Freedom —which was watched by over 900,000 viewers on RAI 3 prime time and selected by major international festivals, including IDFA 2022 and FIPADOC 2024—she directed Quel dolore non è immobile (2023), a documentary on the tragic events of the 1980 Bologna massacre, and Guercino – Uno su Cento, the second episode of the anthology series La Scuola Emiliana, which began in 2019 with Carracci – La Rivoluzione Silenziosa, an award-winning film in both Italy and abroad.
