The path leading me to this point was riddled with challenges, decision-making, and the weighing of different factors such as affordability and accessibility to quality education.
In May 2022, I offered a heartfelt prayer that will forever remain etched in my memory. I beseeched God to alter my life within four months, a duration that perhaps delineated the bounds of my patience. As weeks turned into months without any significant developments, I kept exploring my options until one evening when I stumbled upon an application for Economics and Economic Policy at the University of Bologna.
Realizing it was the last day to submit my application, I ventured forward despite my skepticism, spurred by previous unsuccessful attempts due to high application fees and complex processes.
Fortune smiled upon me as the application process turned out to be surprisingly convenient. It required only that I upload certain documents before sending it off. In a month's time, an acceptance email graced my inbox, leaving me awash in a myriad of emotions - happiness, disbelief, and overwhelming gratitude. The email contained thorough instructions on every subsequent step needed to begin my classes on time despite my last-minute application.
Life gifted me with Bologna on the last of the four months I had prayed for. With renewed faith in my heart, I asked for additional grace to make the most of my two years of studies. This was answered in the form of an Emilia Romagna regional scholarship, covering tuition, accommodation, meals, and pocket money, among other benefits.
Additionally, I availed annual bus discounts for students, enjoyed student discounts in restaurants known for Italy's delectable cuisine, and participated in the 150-hour student collaboration service that allowed me to work while studying.
My journey as a student has been nothing short of incredible. I am truly grateful for the constant efforts put forth by our university to create a welcoming and nurturing environment for its students. The humble and approachable professors have played an integral role in shaping my experience; they expertly address both academic and social concerns, going above and beyond what is expected of them.
