In the Plant Biochemistry laboratory, located at the Department of Biology, Geology, and Environment (BiGeA) at via Irnerio 42, research and educational activities are carried out. The laboratory's equipment and the presence of specialized technicians allow for the preparation of solutions and buffers, the preparation of culture media, extraction of nucleic acids, proteins, and secondary metabolites from plant tissues/cells, as well as the preparation and running of gels for protein and nucleic acid electrophoresis. Equipment available in the laboratory includes basic tools such as a Speed Vacuum, magnetic stirrers, pH meters, analytical balances, electrophoresis chambers, centrifuges, microscopes, spectrophotometers, microplate readers. Additionally, there are chemical fume hoods and hoods for cell cultures, refrigerators, freezers, and a phytotron. The laboratory's educational, training, and research activities include: Practical exercises for undergraduate and graduate courses in Biological Sciences (B), Natural Sciences (B), Molecular and Cellular Biology (M). Preparation of undergraduate and doctoral theses. Development of research projects. The laboratory also provides services and consultancy, with specialized technical support available for various sample preparation methodologies and protocols.
