  • Simona Tondelli, RURITAGE project coordinator: "RURITAGE EU vision paper"

Tondelli is an associate professor of Urban Planning at the University of Bologna (UNIBO). She has 22 years of research experience in sustainable urban planning and regeneration. She is the coordinator of the four-year-long H2020 research project RURITAGE project, initiated in June 2018. RURITAGE strives to enable rural regeneration through heritage by sustainably enhancing local heritage for regional and community development. Learn more on the RURITAGE website: www.ruritage.eu

  • Stefano Dominioni, Council of Europe: “The Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe programme. Tools for rural regeneration in the post-Covid 19 context”

Stefano Dominioni is the Executive Secretary of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe (EPA) and Director of the European Institute of Cultural Routes (Luxembourg). He is responsible for overseeing the certification by the Council of Europe of cultural routes in the field of European culture and heritage across its 47 Member States and the regular evaluation of the current 38 certified  ”Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe”. He received his Ph.D., M.Phil. and M.A. from Yale University, a M.A. from the Université d’Aix-Marseille and a B.A. from the University of Milan.   • Helen Williams, DG AGRI: ‘Overview of Commission Coronavirus response initiatives relevant for agriculture and rural areas".

Helen Williams works in the rural development services of DG AGRI, European Commission. She is Deputy  Head of Unit of  Unit AGRI/E.2 which is responsible for overseeing the European Network for Rural          Development (ENRD) as well as the Rural Development Programmes of six Member States (DK, EE, FI, LT, LV, SE,).   • Elena Di Federico, ENRD: "Rural responses to the COVID-19 crisis in Europe"

  • Maciej W. Hofman, DG EAC: "EU cultural policy and culture in rural areas: current topics and upcoming initiatives"

Maciej Hofman works as a Policy Officer at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture, where he is responsible for managing initiatives related to the role of culture in cities and regions, access to culture via digital means as well as support to cultural and creative sectors.   • Giulia Facelli, DG RTD: "R&I and Horizon 2020 initiatives to tackle COVID-19 crisis"

Giulia Facelli is Policy Officer on 'Innovating Cities' at the European Commission. Building Engineer and Architect by education, she specialized in structural analysis of historic constructions focusing on conservation, rehabilitation and reuse of abandoned heritage buildings and districts. Since she joined DG Research and Innovation, she focused on R&I policies to promote sustainable urban development through historic buildings and districts rehabilitation and reuse. Currently, she is involved into the preparation of the future Horizon Europe Mission on 'Climate-Neutral & Smart-Cities'.
