ABOUT

Oper.space is the innovation center of the University of Bologna.

VISION

We enable the potential of people and organizations as innovators.

We cultivate a new culture of creativity and sensitivity towards innovation.

MISSION

We connect universities, businesses and institutions to collectively address complex societal issues through innovation pathways that generate solutions centered around people's needs.

WHAT DOES "OPER" MEAN?

Open innovation, Entrepreneurship and Research.

The Oper.space logo is inspired by the human collider at CERN in Geneva; the Oper.space team works closely with the CERN team.

The human collider is an accelerator of encounters and connections between individuals, just like Oper.space.

The two circles recall the concept of a particle accelerator: the smaller circle - representing Oper.space - generates enough energy to empower the larger circle - which represents talents, companies and territory.

DIFFERENT IDENTITIES, ONE APPROACH TO INNOVATION

Almacube, Almalabor, Oper.lab, and BeHold are the identities that make up Oper.space, an innovation hub that leverages their diverse expertise to create an innovative ecosystem in the region.

Almacube is the incubator and innovative hub of the University of Bologna and Confindustria Emilia Area Centro. It works to promote the economic development of the region through innovation and the development of young companies, collaboration with established companies, and educating new generations in an entrepreneurial approach.

Almalabor is the maker space, prototyping laboratory, and coworking space of the University of Bologna. The coworking space hosts training and mentoring programs aimed at supporting the launch of innovative projects. The maker space is the laboratory where experimentation, design, and the realization of the first prototype of projects across multiple fields and sectors take place.

Oper.Lab is the Observatory for Open Innovation of the Department of Management of the University of Bologna, which analyzes, designs, and experiments with concrete and replicable models of Open Innovation for organizations. The observatory is dedicated to understanding and disseminating the culture of Open Innovation, identifying local and international best practices, designing and experimenting with partners on cutting-edge methodologies and formats.

BeHold is the University of Bologna's company that manages investments in accredited spin-offs.
