PhD program: Biomedical Sciences Lab research area: Signaling pathways controlling muscle mass and metabolism

  • What it is

Mobility experience with a research focus

  • Who it’s for

    PhD sandwich; Post Doc

Department

Department of Biomedical Sciences, University of Padova

Main research activities/topics/projects

Muscle plays a pivotal role in regulating glucose and lipid balance, thereby influencing overall whole-body metabolism through interorgan communication. Mitochondrial morphology undergoes dynamic changes crucial for adapting to metabolic demands driven by muscle contraction, energy consumption, and general metabolic processes. We are focused on the relevance of mitochondrial dynamics, peroxisomal function, and the peroxisomal-mitochondrial interplay in preserving muscle integrity in health and disease.
