Main research activities/topics/projects

We have recently started a new research line on hybrid systems of atoms and photons. Funded by EU project CRYST^3  “Atom-light crystals in photonic crystals”, we aim to cool and trap atoms inside the hollow core of a photonic crystal optical fiber.

Our scientific goals include exploring the atom-light interactions in confined geometry and inducing interactions among atoms mediated by photons guided in the fiber. Our technological goals focus on creating a platform for miniaturized sensors based on cold atoms.
