Main research activities/topics/projects

The Visual Media Lab (VMLab) is a laboratory equipped for the study of audiovisual media experience, with a particular focus on immersive technologies (virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality). The VMLab integrates traditional methods of film studies with experimental and quantitative analysis tools, in collaboration with psychology, neurology, and computer science. The VMLab is an interdisciplinary space for theoretical, methodological, and epistemological reflection. It supports MA and PhD students during the experimental phase of their theses on immersive media. Moreover, the VMLab hosts international research fellows and visiting professors interested in exploring the relationships between film studies and other disciplines.
