Main research activities/topics/projects

The PhD program in Transcultural Studies in Humanities offers an interdisciplinary training and research program with a strong international vocation, conceived to combine a high degree of specialization in specific humanities sectors with the need to cross boundaries between different cultures and disciplines. Particular attention will thus be focused on research that examines the historical and theoretical relations, intersections, and overlaps between intercultural contexts and processes, the arts and sciences, both in terms of natural sciences and humanities.

The PhD program is divided into three scientific areas:

1. Storytelling, translations, cultural production

2. Theory and Analysis of Artistic and Literary Processes

3. Culture and knowledge: Sciences, Philosophies, and Cultures.

The three areas focus on one shared topic: Knowledge and intercultural production.

Specific subjects include literatures and cultures (Italian, English, Anglo-American, Spanish, Hispano-American, German, French Russian, Japanese, Arabic, Ancient Greek and Byzantine literatures), history, history of art, cinema, semiotics, philosophy, and anthropology.
