The research activities for future candidates for the Brazilian Master/PhD/Post Doc include three distinct but intertwined areas: the study of the activity carried out by Italian missionaries in Brazil during the Early Modern Age, missionaries belonging to both the secular and regular clergy; the study of the economic and commercial relations between Italy and Brazil in the Early Modern Age, through the mediation of the Portuguese Monarchy; the study of slavery and the construction of ethnic and racial identities through legal and theological discourses.
