Main research activities/topics/projects

Geourbanistica (Geo-urban planning) is a two-year Master’s course (120 ECTS) based on a strong interdisciplinary teaching approach and on “collaborative learning” methods for the twin (ecological and digital) transition. Two main disciplines - geography and urban planning – are the core of the Master, which also includes courses – among others - in architecture, history, communication, landscape ecology, and linguistics.

Students achieve a systemic approach to territorial and urban analysis and co-design. Field experiences and interaction with local actors (such as institutions, private associations, inhabitants) integrate the frontal lessons. This mix provides soft skills and a sensitivity to spatial justice and territorial comprehension, as well as digital lab activities (on GIS, 3D rendering, videomaking, digital humanities, and so on). Indeed, these activities provide competencies in smart technologies as support for the co-design approach. The main language is Italian, but 30 ECTS in English have just been introduced along with some international co-teachings from excellent universities such as Harvard University-Graduate School of Design and Dept. of History, Ecole Urbaine de Lyon, University College London, Universidad de Valladolid.
