Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures and Cultures at University of Bergamo
The backbone of the research and teaching activities carried out by the Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures and Cultures are the subjects of literature, linguistics, philology and foreign languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, English, German, Japanese, Russian and Spanish). These are flanked by the areas of Italian studies, history and geography, as well as other subjects that include art, economics, anthropology and sociology.
All of the Department's scientific research areas and all of its teaching courses are inspired by the principles of interdisciplinarity and internationalisation, cornerstones that have enabled the development of a rich, articulated and appealing educational offer, multiplying the effectiveness of a research that today holds a strong dialogue with international contexts and is capable of intercepting projects expressed both in the strictly academic sphere and in those related to the world of local companies and institutions.
This configuration has also demonstrated the Department’s strong ability to express excellence at the various levels of research, with outstanding RQA results, both on a disciplinary level and overall. Evidence of this is the recognition of the Department as a in 2017 by the Ministry of Education, University and Research, which sees it particularly engaged in activities related to the areas of Translation Studies and Digital Humanities.
