Main research activities/topics/projects

The project aims to monitor and understand ground instability processes such as land subsidence and landslides that may affect infrastructure, buildings, and cultural heritage. It uses satellite radar data (InSAR) to measure ground deformation over large areas with high precision over time.

The research will integrate satellite observations with geological, geomorphological, and geotechnical investigations, and apply artificial intelligence and machine learning methods to analyse complex deformation time series.

The main goal is to identify the natural and human-induced causes of ground deformation and to develop predictive models that improve the assessment and management of geohazard risks.
