Department of Biology/ PhD school of Biosciences
The lab is involved in the analysis of the cellular mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of different neurodegenerative disorders, including Parkinson’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and neurodegeneration with brain iron accumulation. More specifically, the lab investigates whether and how mitochondrial dysfunction and lysosomal impairments are connected to pathological-associated phenotypes. Analyses are performed in Drosophila melanogaster models of the different diseases using behavioral, biochemical, and imaging techniques. The research is performed in collaboration with other PI belonging to the same Research Unit and students will find a stimulating international environment where English is commonly used to communicate
English
