Main research activities/topics/projects

The project will foresee the development of a low-cost multi and hyperspectral image acquisition system for the optimisation of greenhouse crop management. In particular, the system would involve the installation of acquisition instruments (multi or hyper-spectral camera) on a structure capable of enabling the movement of the acquisition system along the length of the greenhouse in order to allow the acquisition at predetermined intervals of images in the various spectral bands. These images will have to be processed for the determination of spectral indices capable of assessing the water, nutrient and health status of cultivated plants. These indices may be used directly or as input to decision making models capable of suggesting the best management of greenhouse crops.
