Mobility experience with a research focus
Master students involved in the final research, PhD sandwich, Post Doc
Department of Biotechnology, University of Verona
The research activities of the Biochemistry and Industrial Biotechnology Laboratory focus on the development of innovative biotechnological processes for the sustainable valorisation of renewable resources and waste streams, in the framework of the circular bioeconomy.
Main research topics include:
- Enzyme discovery, engineering, and characterization for industrial applications;
- Biocatalysis and enzymatic synthesis of high-value compounds;
- Microbial biotechnology and metabolic engineering to produce biofuels, organic acids, and biopolymers;
- Valorisation of lignocellulosic biomass, agro-industrial residues, and plastic waste;
- Sustainable production of bioplastics and bio-based materials, and
- Enzymatic and microbial upcycling of complex substrates
The laboratory is actively involved in national and international research projects and offers a multidisciplinary and collaborative research environment.
Prospective candidates (Master, PhD, and Post Doc) will be integrated into ongoing research projects and trained in advanced techniques in molecular biology, biochemistry, and industrial biotechnology.
