Main research activities/topics/projects

The research group is working on two main areas, in which the candidate could participate:

  1. Insects as Feed and Food: This research topic explores the potential of insects as alternative nutrients and energy sources, examining their use in animal feed or human consumption. The goal is to enhance sustainability in the feed/food production chain while contributing to innovative and eco-friendly solutions for nutrients (protein) supply.
  2. Sustainability in Poultry and Rabbit Farming: This area focuses on improving the sustainability of poultry and rabbit farming practices. Potential research projects may involve the study of heat stress in these small livestock, the use of more sustainable feedstuffs, and functional ingredients that enhance both sustainability and animal welfare, and the quality of animal-derived products (meat and egg).
