Through the creation and organization of an Online Platform, a Winter School and a Student Conference, this project aims to become a hub for students and young professionals who are eager to come together and discuss media and political landscapes in different regions.
The project's main goals include the development of a collaborative website open to European, East Asian and American teaching staff and students as well as a wider audience. The online platform would be designed to promote the project’s initiatives and, with a view to supporting students' learning and research activities, it would gather relevant materials, including articles, investigating the relationship between media and politics in different socio-cultural and political-economic contexts. Furthermore, during 2023, faculty members from UNIBO will visit the partner universities in order to give special lectures for students on the main topics of the project. They will also have discussions with PhD students and plan future joint activities related to the project.
The first Winter School on “Europe-East Asia-US Media and Politics” will take place in Bologna in March 2023. It will allow a given number of selected students (max. 20) to delve into a wide variety of topics related to political and media domains. Students will be selected according to the procedures laid out in the Call for Application open until January 31, 2023. Overseas students will be financially supported to cover accommodation costs (i.e. flight costs are covered both by students and their home institutions). The participation in the Winter School of visiting professor from each partner institution will be covered by the project’s budget.
To conclude, a Student Conference will be also organized on the subject of “Europe-East Asia-US Media and Politics”. The conference aims to present the research activities that have been carried out by the partner universities’ BA and MA students. A Call for Applications to present abstracts for panel and poster sessions will open in 2023 on the online platform. A Committee of experts will review the proposals, while a selection of the best research papers presented at the conference will be published in e-book format and disseminated through the project website.
