The project

LIVESTOCK-STOP-COVI objectives are the setting up and the production of genomic tools and methods that can be useful in a "One Health" strategy to contrast coronavirus infections in livestock and in the farms. The project will develop 1) methodologies to analyse environmental DNA and RNA based on advanced genomic technologies to identify coronaviruses on the animals and in the farm sites, 2) methods and kits based on CRISPR technologies to identify coronaviruses in farm animals and on their derived products and 3) approaches and systems to use genetic variability within species to identify variants in the animal genomes conferring genetic resistance to coronavirus infections for their application in marker assisted selection.
