YEARLY COURSE

In academic years 2022/2023, 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 EU_SOCIAL offers a dedicated course in English within the Politics and Social Policy Master.

 

2022/2023

EU_SOCIAL offers a 40-hour course (8 credits) in the newly established master curriculum (activated in academic year 2019/2020 and fully taught in English) – Politics and Social Policy (PSP) providing knowledge on solidarity as an EU principle, a domestic value and a cornerstone of the response to financial crises, migration and environmental issues.
It is taught by 5 EU_SOCIAL staff members from Unibo (Ragone, Bagni, Blokker, Borraccetti, and Ceccorulli), who cover respectively comparative law, environmental law, sociology, EU law, political science.
The teaching is delivered in both traditional class-seminars and through interactive methods. Students are expected to participate in the discussions, read the materials in advance and act as judges or parties in mock trials concerning cases before domestic or European courts. They will present a final essay, in groups or individually, concerning an issue or a case.

2023/2024

SOLIDARITY IN COMPARATIVE EUROPEAN LAW

The course aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the comparative dimension of the European legal space, through basic institutions and principles, with a particular emphasis on solidarity. The course will lead the students to acquire and improve the following skills: techniques for reading and understanding of constitutional norms, legislation and case law from different legal systems, as well as critical skills for the comparative examination of European constitutionalism; knowledge and applied ability to understand the core problems of EU integration from a comparative legal perspective; ability to find and understand legal sources of the European legal space.
