Professor Sofia Lambropoulou is a leading expert in knot theory and low-dimensional topology at the National Technical University of Athens. Her research spans knots, braids, knotoids, skein modules, and generalized invariants, with applications in physics, chemistry, and biology, including DNA, proteins, and polymers. She has published extensively, led major funded projects, supervised numerous PhDs, and delivered keynote lectures worldwide. Lambropoulou has collaborated for three decades with Louis H. Kauffman and co-organized landmark events with Fields Medalist Vaughan F. R. Jones. She has held major leadership roles at NTUA and directs the MSc program in Mathematical Modeling in Modern Technologies and Financial Engineering.
