All TV series are like great mosaics resulting from a collaborative work of experts in different disciplines, to mention just a few, such as the literary creation required for the script, the acting interpretation, the film direction, the technologies used for its distribution or the business techniques to finance it. All these aspects make up the impact of the series, which is that of a sophisticated narrative product that influences us as individuals in our knowledge and emotions and makes us feel unique aesthetic experiences. But it also influences us more broadly as a society, provoking social practices and consolidating in time widely shared habits throughout the world. To understand how this complex product also influences at various levels requires an ambitious perspective, involving studies of each aspect of seriality to compose an interdisciplinary mosaic. To what extent does the current situation allow for such a vision? Is it possible to achieve it? What means are needed? This presentation will address all these issues and will also offer an overview of an initiative that is being developed in collaboration with a team of experts from the University of Bologna.
