Additive manufacturing, DMLS, design for AM, dynamic properties, fatigue strength
Date: 17 OCTOBER 2023 from 17:30 to 19:00
Event location: Sala Rossa, Palazzo Marchesini, Via Marsala, 26 - Bologna - In presence and online event
Type: Lectures
Additive manufacturing (AM) is based on the principle of producing parts by adding material layers (“layer-by-layer” manufacturing) without using tools for shaping or removing materials. This production method removes all design constraints that establish conventional production technologies and becomes a process suitable for producing parts with complex geometry (lattice and cellular design, bionic design, multi-functionality integrated by shape, etc.), opening new possibilities for innovation in design. The aim of the lecture is:
• to first introduce the audience to the creative world of design for AM and to familiarize them with realistic models of attractive shapes to understand the advantages of AM technologies;
• to learn about the aspects of AM technologies that represent a critical challenge for their application, both in modern aviation, automotive engineering, and other fields;
• finally, an overview of recent research results will provide some answers to the presented challenges and suggestions for further research that may be immediately applied at the University of Bologna campus in Forli.
If you prefer to attend this lecture in presence, you should write to segreteria.isa@unibo.it within October 17, 12 p.m. and book your place. The places will be assigned on “first come first served” basis.
PhD students and researchers who are interested may request an attendance certificate.
The delivery of the attendance certificate requires the attendance of at least 70% of the lecture.
