In this talk, he will present some important models related to phase transitions and free boundary problems and how they are ubiquitous in the applied senses. Models related to flame propagation in combustion theory, equations relating tumor growth, diffusion processes and the phenomena of melting ice present will be discussed. Modern and current techniques developed throughout the years will be glimpsed over in order to emphasize the role of present day mathematics in dealing with these challenging and important problems of the contemporary world.
