Full Professor University of Leon

 

Jorge Garcia-Arias is Full Professor in International Political Economy and Global Development Studies at the University of Leon, Spain. He is a co-Editor of the European Journal of Development Research, one of the leading academic journals on development studies worldwide. His inter- and multi- disciplinary research is situated at the multiple intersections between critical development studies, political ecology, international political economy, development and climate finance, and ecological humanities. He has been a Research Associate within the Department of Development Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, and has been awarded prestigious scholarships, such as the Fulbright senior scholarship and the Salvador de Madariaga senior scholarship. He has also carried out research stays at numerous universities and research centres in Europe and the Americas (SOAS, The New School, Institute of Latin American Studies, Roskilde University, ELTE University). Jorge has participated in and coordinated several international research projects, and his papers have been released in Globalizations, Environmental Politics, British Journal of Sociology of Education, European Journal of Development Research, Global Policy, Environment and Planning C: Politics and Space, Latin American Perspectives, or Water International, amongst many others.
