IN-EULALIA: the project

IN-EULALIA The aim of the project is to involve Latin students and teachers in the production and testing of multisensory, multilingual and inclusive learning and teaching tools.

IN-EULALIA (Innovative and Inclusive Instruments for European Latin Linguistic Assessment) is a 36-month project (2024-2027) born from the success of the previous Erasmus+ project (EULALIA), which proposed a model for Latin language certification similar to that of the CEFR. 

IN-EULALIA aims to create useful tools for teachers and students to improve the experience of teaching and learning Latin, also in view of the EULALIA certification tests now used in several European countries.

In Europe, Latin is taught at secondary school and university level in all 27 countries: it is therefore an element that unites the different European cultures. The community of Latin teachers and students is lively, interactive and determined to promote this ancient language and to have its cultural value recognised. 

In the light of the changes taking place in our society, the teaching of Latin is faced with new challenges that encourage the renewal of methods, making the learning experience increasingly active, multisensory and, therefore, inclusive.

 

In particular, N-EULALIA aims to improve the teaching of lexicon in order to facilitate learning (and consequently improve results in the EULALIA certification tests) and to explore words related to important concepts in European culture.

It also aims to promote the comparison of different teaching traditions in the teaching of Latin through the promotion of an international training programme and the creation of a European comparative syllabus.

The project consists of three work packages (WPs), which will lead to three different outcomes:

1- (WP2) A multilingual and multimedia lexicon that promotes multisensory and integrative learning. The basic lexicon already developed by the EULALIA project, accompanied by audio files, will be further enriched with images and translations into the different languages of the partners.

2- (WP3) Production of specific vocabulary exercises and of a multilingual digital anthology, which will make it possible to check the meaning of words in complex contexts.

3_ (WP4) A comparative syllabus comparing similarities and differences between the different teaching traditions of the partner countries; this tool will be the basis of an international training course for teachers and future teachers of Latin.
