The Gender Equality in Multilevel System (GEMS) project originates within the Interdisciplinary Research Center on Social Rights (CRDIS) of the Department of Sociology and Law of Economics. GEMS will unfold over a three-year period, with Prof. Claudia Golino serving as the coordinator.
The project aims to offer a 40-hour course titled Gender and Multilevel Governance to students of the Master's Degree in Sociology and Social Service. The course is designed to provide an introductory and in-depth exploration of gender equality in the European multilevel system, encompassing both legal and sociological perspectives. Upon completion of the course, students will be equipped to navigate sociological studies on gender disparity and gain a comprehensive understanding of the regulations and policies at supranational, national, and local levels.
Furthermore, the GEMS project aims to conduct seminars for PhD candidates in European Law and Sociology and Social Research. The project also seeks to consolidate a line of research dedicated to gender within the CRIDS. Roundtable discussions and workshops will be organized to facilitate dialogue and stimulation. Finally, the project envisions the publication of a book and the organization of an internationally focused final conference, gathering contributions from both Italian and international scholars, and disseminating the results of the GEMS project to the scientific community.
