Farfilò Project

In 2017 the group launched a research project which has been awarded with a two-years grant by the University of Bologna.

The research grant is supporting the research of the group and will allow us to pursue the following activities:

1) the creation of a new master course on philosophical practices with children in September 2019.
2) short intensive-training courses for students and teachers who want to learn how to conduct philosophical sessions with children;
3) philosophical sessions for children;
4) a spin-off of this research group called 'Filò'. Filò has the purpose to promote philosophical practices with children and adults as well as to create job opportunities for students;
5) an international scientific network with the aim of sharing our knowledge and partecipate to international projects focused on philosophical practices with children;
6) exchanges between schools and university.

Our group is investigating on different research questions:

1) Foundational Issues: what are the philosophical and pedagogical frameworks which provide the foundation for doing philosophy with children? Is pragmatism the sole theoretical standpoint which justifies the practice?
2) Plurality of methods: what are the available methodologies for practicing philosophy with children? What are their main differences? Are there common features which are required in order to propose an effective practice for children?
3) Philosophy of Childhood: what is the conception of childhood that sustains and justifies the practice? How do different conceptions of childhood give shape to different practices?
