In the heart of Romagna, history, culture, enogastronomy, nature and hospitality coexist in Forlì.
Forlì is a city of many styles, which coexist, producing an architectural scenario of undoubted charm: it has a little of the Middle Ages, a little of the Neoclassical, and an architectural accent of the Rationalist brand. The Renaissance, on the other hand, explodes in the works of Marco Palmezzano scattered throughout the city.
The beating heart of the historic centre since the earliest centuries is the immense Piazza Aurelio Saffi. Creating a kind of theatre of city life are its porticoed sides, like wings representing the flow of the centuries. Among its most prestigious monuments is the Abbey of San Mercuriale, dominated by its imposing bell tower. The centre of the square is dominated by the statue of Aurelio Saffi. Forlì is also the city of Caterina Sforza, who wanted to model it in her image and likeness: strong and tenacious, dreamy and energetic.
The great architecture of the early 20th century is embodied in the imposing building of the former Aeronautical College, designed by Cesare Valle, a textbook example of rationalist architecture. Inside you will find the Mosaics of Flight, by Angelo Canevari, which convey a true history of flight.
This is Forlì, a city where the ideal sparks the imagination and the ordinary becomes extraordinary.
