The Flood in the Emilia-Romagna Region

From 15 to 17 May 2023, the flood in Emilia-Romagna caused the overflow of 21 rivers and the flooding of 37 municipalities, including the city of Forlì. One year later, in Piazza Saffi, the most iconic and symbolic place in the city, EYE Forlì will commemorate the first anniversary of the flood, celebrating the rebirth of the affected areas.

The Faenza flag wavers

The ceremony will begin with a performance by the acclaimed flag wavers of the Niballo Palio di Faenza. These extraordinary artists have gained international fame thanks to their numerous awards and prestigious performances, including their involvement in the opening ceremonies of important international events, such as the last Football World Cup. They have been representing the colours of Romagna for years.

Greetings from the Land of Romagna

The ceremony will continue with speeches by representatives of the Emilia-Romagna territories, the University of Bologna, the European Parliament and the European Commission.

From water to earth: the rebirth of Romagna

The ceremony will end on the notes of Costantino Carrara's piano and the voice of Spanish-born soprano Constança Pinter, who will perform an original rearrangement of Anidride Solforosa, a composition by Lucio Dalla and poet Roberto Roversi (both born and lived in the Emilia-Romagna region).

This will be followed by an alternation of pieces for piano/pianoforte and voice, in relation to the choreography by Pablo Ezequiel Rizzo and Marco Casagrande. The performers will be 9 artists associated with B-ped, from the dancer candidate for the UBU under 35 award Federica D'Aversa, to the very young Duo Indolfi. Performers selected for their diversity, from gender to origin, in order to offer a representation of the differences that coexist in the social texture of the European Union.

The artistic direction by Manuela Victoria Colacicco will transform the urban space of Piazza Saffi. The performers will wear long satin skirts from which bodies will seem to emerge: hands and blue limbs drawing contemporary-installation-style choreographic constructions to the music, creating an atmosphere of a ritual celebrating the rebirth of the territory, whose central elements will be water and earth.
