Support and welcome: The welcome day was well organized. There were also students from higher years that offered they’re help as well as OMNIA. Every student had a contact Person. Mine unfortunately never answered.
Language difficulties: some professors talked really slowly so also the exchange students had a good chance to understand them, others talkes very fast with almost no chance to understand. But sometimes after a long day it was difficult to keep concentrating.
So maybe less courses (than 30 ECTS) would be better to handle. Its good to make an Italian course during the stay, then Italian is not too difficult to learn in that short period.
Accommodation e ease to find it: It was not easy but in the end, I think it was possible for everyone to find something.
Transports: Some Italians offered a ride in their car. Sometimes it was not possible to get to place of the course without a car. Erasmus students get the card inside of Bologna for 10 Euros a month, for Ozzano this offer is not valid, so it’s a little bit expensive to take the buses. But its definitely ok to take the bus, you don’t need to bring your own car.
Integration with Italian students: The Italian students were very, very friendly they tried to help everywhere where they could. Also offered seats in their cars for courses that are outside of Ozzano.
Evaluation of courses and practices: The order of all courses in Italy and Germany is very different. In some courses I was missing the basics and it was difficult to keep up and understand everything. Maybe it would have been better to go to some courses of the 2. year. But in Germany they told me I should take the ones from the 3 year, so I just did that. The practical lessons were very useful.
Most profitable year of course to come: 3. Year
Other comments:
PROS: friendly, quite small university, so its more easy to get to know the other students and to get along everything.
CONS: -the far way from Bologna to Ozzano every morning
-It was very cold in the classroom in the sommer (way too much air conditioning). And way too hot in the winter (too much heating) we were sitting in the sommer with a winter jacket and in the winter with a Tshirt. It would be nice to find a more comfortable way for the students and also more ecofriendly way for the world.
