The Department of History and Cultures of the University of Bologna is pleased to invite you to the 17th International Congress of Greek and Latin Epigraphy!
The University of Bologna, founded in 1088, is the oldest in the Western world, but in Bologna, Greek and Latin epigraphy is always young!
We regularly award doctoral theses and postdoctoral positions to maintain interest in and attention to technical and scientific developments in our disciplines. We cultivate relationships with disciplines such as philology, archaeology, papyrology and the digital humanities, the latter of which has been a particular focus for us in recent years. These relationships help to renew interest in inscriptions of all origins and periods. Bologna is an ideal place for people of different generations, with different interests and experiences, to meet, discuss and get to know each other.
