City Science Lab

The purpose of the City Science Lab is to deal with the transition of cities to future Smart Cities, that must be sustainable from an environmental and social point of view, using the physics-mathematical predictive models that are distinctive of Complex Systems Physics.

In its activity, the City Science Lab has developed a considerable experience in the study of human mobility both on a urban and extra-urban level, in the dynamics of crowd involved in large turist events and in the dynamics of traffic on road networks.

This activity led to the development of data-analytics techniques to extract relevant information from ICT (Information Communication Technologies) big-data and to the constuction of dynamic models capable of integrating data information to predict the evolution on the system.

The Laboratory has taken part in research and technology transfer projects in collaboration with other research groups and companies.
