PROJECT

The Cinema and Law project, funded by the Third Mission, is based on the profound interrelationship between cinema, images and law, recognising the importance of the media representation of law and justice. In its first edition - both in Bologna and in Italy - the project actively involves the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Arts and the Cineteca di Bologna.

The main focus will be on how cinema and, more generally, images allow us to delve more deeply into issues of law and justice. Particular attention will be paid to filmed trials, the use of images as evidence and the debate on the relationship between inductive and historical methods.

There are two main areas of focus: a cycle of screenings and the creation of a permanent archive. The screenings will present films and documentaries dealing with legal issues, promoting a multidisciplinary and international approach and stimulating debate with historians, legal experts and filmmakers who will engage in dialogue from different perspectives. The Permanent Archive of the Department of Legal Sciences will act as a collection and analysis point for audiovisual productions, actively involving students, postgraduates and researchers, publishing popular materials and collaborating with national and international legal institutions.
