The term “Graphic Medicine” was coined in 2007 to describe the role that comics can play in the healthcare field, suggesting their use as a therapeutic tool. Graphic Medicine (GM) was then introduced at the Human Anatomy Center of the University of Bologna as a potential tool to discuss body donation with medical students in the anatomy course, with the aim of presenting it as an innovative communication method. The use of GM could benefit the body donation awareness campaign due to the comic's easy ability to capture attention, ease of understanding, and its effect on memory. The students created five projects with the goal of promoting body donation both among the general public and the scientific community, focusing on some important aspects of the topic, including the potential of emotion in this medium of dissemination.
