The current dissection room, dedicated to professor Giovanni Mazzotti, inaugurated in 2014 is a facility that occupies about 400 square meters of floor space within the Institute of Anatomy, accommodates 4 anatomical tables and is equipped with a sophisticated air filtration system that allows dissection activities to be carried out in complete safety. In 2019, it was upgraded to the latest audio-video-endoscopic technology allowing medical and surgical students to learn anatomy and surgical techniques in depth, also benefiting from recorded video and distance education.
The septic room is combined with an embalming room for reception and preparation of the body. This room is also equipped with an air suction system and an anatomical table. There is also a room for storage of technological devices and PPE, a room for coffin storage, and a room for cold storage.
Accompanying the room, a new cadaver CT diagnostic machine has been in operation since November 2024 for continuous and innovative medical and biomedical training and research.
Inaugurated in November 2024, the new computed tomography diagnostic machine allows in-depth study of anatomical preparations by both multiplanar reconstruction and the three-dimensional model. This ensures a greater and more complete understanding of anatomy during ongoing courses in septic rooms as well as extreme proximity to the hospital operating reality.
