BIOCOATCH project

This project aims at the development and investigation of a new generation of safe coatings designed for application on metal substrates. These coatings will integrate anticorrosion protection to preserve the metal substrate, antibacterial activity to prevent microbial growth and environmental sustainability.

This is a highly multidisciplinary project involving competencies on microbiology, corrosion science, environmental sustainability and cytotoxicity.

Research Project

This project proposal outlines a comprehensive approach to address bacterial contamination and corrosion issues in both cultural heritage conservation and healthcare settings through the development of novel coatings.
Overall, this project integrates material science, microbiology, and environmental assessment to develop multifunctional coatings with significant applications in diverse sectors, benefiting society as a whole.

Where are the Research Units involved in the project?

The Research Units are:
-University of Bologna
-University of Ferrara
-National Research Council (CNR), Monterotondo Scalo (Rome).
They are all located in Italy.
