ENSA Normandie - Ecole nationale supérieure d'architecture de Normandie

The National School of Architecture of Normandy (ENSA), founded in 1904 as the first Regional School of Architecture in France, is located since 1984 in the town of Darnétal, near Rouen. It hosts 700 students who are supervised by 90 teachers (in addition to the 30 administrative and technical staff).

Its main activities concern the architect training over the different degrees of training: it delivers the DEEA, Diploma of Studies in Architecture (conferring the degree of License); the DEA, "State Diploma of Architect" (conferring the degree of Master); the HMONP, the "Authorization to the Mastery of Work in Own Name"; the Master DRAQ, "Diagnosis and Rehabilitation of the everyday Architecture"; the Master "Architecture Filière Paysage", in partnership with the University of Hanoi, Vietnam. ENSA Normandie was among the top 100 Architecture schools (out of 350) chosen by the “Domus” architecture magazine in 2014. After joining the CESAR (Conference of Higher Education Institutions of Greater Rouen) in 2010, ENSA is the founding member of the Community of Universities and Institutions (ComUE) Normandy University (Decree of 29 December 2014).

Its research activities are developed through the Research Laboratory ATE (Architecture, Territory, Environment Normandy (authorized in 2016 as “Equipe d’Accueil” n. 7464), and since 2017 participating in the Doctoral School “Homme Socièté Risque Territoire” (n. 556) of Normandy University. The research activities of ENSA Normandie cover all the levels of architecture. Particularly in the area of the urban project Theoretical Courses and Project Workshops focus on the theme of public space, its transformation over time, and its project in the contemporary city. More specifically, the "urban project" is at the heart of the multidisciplinary Department "Architecture Ville Territoire".

Teaching activities are developped in L3 (Semester 06) Bachelor's Degree in Urban Project Workshops and Urban Theory Courses, and in Master 1 and 2 (Semesters 07, 09, 10) in Urban Project Workshops, Theory Course a Research Seminar, and a Research seminar in relationship with the Rouen Metropolis administration.

Valter Balducci. Architect (IUAV), PhD in architecture (IUAV), full professor of Urban Design at the Ecole nationale supérieure d’architecture de Normandie (ENSA Normandie), member of the Research Unit ATE (EA 7464). He was the research manager of the European research Architecture and Society of Holiday Camps. History and Perspectives (Programme “Culture 2000”, 2006, Agreement Nr 2006-1014/001-001), and the directeur of the Bologna Research Unit of the national project (PRIN 2009, with V. Orioli), Le forme dello spazio abitabile: esperienze di “remodelage” architettonico e urbano nei quartieri di abitazione sociale.

He has published studies, articles and books, concerning the urban design, the architectural and urban rehabilitation of the public housing of the XX century, and the seaside touristic territory. His publications include Spiagge urbane (2014, avec V. Orioli), Le forme dello spazio abitabile. Trasformazioni dell’housing sociale a Cesena, Forlì e Bologna (2017, with V. Orioli). He was a co-director of the scientific research and the book Former à la rehabilitation. Enseignements supérieurs et professionnels (2016-2018, with J.-B Cremnitzer).

Pierre-Antoine Sahuc, graduated in architecture, he is currently Associate Professor in Sciences and Technics at the National Architecture School of Normandy. In addition, he teaches numerical and graphical tools in the Bachelor of Science in Architecture Degree / specialization “Urban and Sustainable Development” of the Caen University, and the “BIM project management” at the National Center of Art and Crafts (Conservatoire d’Arts et Métiers) in Paris.
In 2012-2017, Pierre-Antoine Sahuc led an education entitled "Atlas of Urban and Architectural Forms » on the analysis of refereces projects in European capitals (London 2016, Berlin 2017). Accompanied by a professional graphic designer, this work as a bachelor student led to the development of a guide containing historical maps, analytical drawings and documentary photographs in different scales.
Since october 2018, he is vice-president of the order of architects Hauts de France and this CAUE (Consulting in Architecture, Urbanism and Environment), that organizes events (conferences, exhibitions, formation) for the dissemination of architectural and urban culture.
