The III Micrologus conference in Bologna, organised in collaboration with the Department FICLIT of University of Bologna and the Union Académique Internationale, aims to investigate an unexplored historiographical category within the history of me- dieval culture: new pseudo epigraphy. This kind of pseudo epigraphy is defined by a transformation, occurring between the 11th and 15th centuries, in the range of authors implicated in false attribution: names of authors from the recent past or even names of mythical or unexpected personalities are also used as the foundation of new sciences. The new pseudo epigraphy populates the sciences of nature, body, so- ciety, and god, as well as literary texts: does this new form of pseudo-epigraphy reflect a form of in- tellectual creativity? Might it point to a revolution- ary consciousness whose memory and affective power has been lost? It certainly offered a privileged space for anonymous authors in search of authority, and a gateway to the emergence of new disciplines.
