A bridge between Bologna and the Gulf

The Dubai Chapter was created to connect, highlight, and grow Alma Mater graduates living and working in the region. It is a dynamic network that brings together diverse skills, promotes professional networking, and keeps the bond with the University alive in a global hub of excellence.

Chapter Leader

Alessandro Corticelli leads commercial activities at Dow Chemical for the Packaging & Specialty Plastics division in the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey. Based in Dubai, he is responsible for defining commercial strategies, accelerating business growth, strengthening customer partnerships, and leading a multicultural team in one of the world's most dynamic regions.

With over twenty years of international experience, he has developed deep expertise in commercial leadership, strategic business development, and the plastics and petrochemicals industry. Throughout his career, he has operated across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, successfully managing complex markets and building long-term relationships with strategic partners, clients, and stakeholders.

He holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Bologna and completed a specialization program in International Relations at LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome. His multidisciplinary education provided him with a strong foundation to operate at the intersection of business, economics, and sustainability.

Chapter Team

  • Luca Torelli graduated in Management Engineering from the University of Bologna (including an exchange period in Argentina) and Politecnico di Milano. He has built an international career focused on innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation.  At EssilorLuxottica, he serves as the Middle East, Turkey & Africa Operations Transformation Manager. After gaining experience at the Paris headquarters, he is now based in Dubai, where he coordinates the optimization of industrial processes and sustainable manufacturing practices for the META region. In 2025, he was recognized as a Young Sustainable Leader by IESE Business School. 

Giovanni Saccà holds a degree in International Management from the University of Bologna and brings over 14 years of international experience in e-commerce, P&L management, and regional commercial strategy developmentAt Amazon, he works as a Senior Vendor Manager, overseeing high-growth categories, optimizing the supply chain, and developing strategic partnerships across the Gulf region. Throughout his career, he has led complex digital transformation and operational integration projects (including the migration of the Souq.com platform to Amazon), combining a strong strategic vision with execution excellence.
