The European Higher Education Area (EHEA) is the result of the political will of 48 countries that, step by step during the last 20 years, starting from the signing of the Bologna Declaration of 1999 which started the Bologna Process, have built an area using common tools. These 48 countries implement reforms on higher education on the basis of common core values - such as freedom of expression, autonomy of institutions, academic freedom, free movement of students and staff. Through this process, the countries, institutions and stakeholders of the European area continuously adapt their higher education systems to make them more compatible and strengthen their quality assurance mechanisms. For all these countries, the main objective is to increase staff and student mobility and facilitate employability.
The University of Salamanca organizes, for its 800 years, a "tournament" between students on the European Higher Education Area. Teams of students from four ancient European universities (Bologna, Coimbra, Oxford and Paris) are invited to participate.
The debate will be held in Spanish and the University of Salamanca will cover travel and accommodation costs. The provisional dates in which the tournament will take place will be from 25 to 27 October in Salamanca.
Up to 4 students from each university mentioned will be selected.
For the University of Bologna, the applications received will be examined by a jury composed of the Vice Rector for International Relations and the Vice Rector for Students.
