The phenomenon of globalization has led to a redefinition of the work experience that challenges government agencies that manage employment rules. The world of global supply chains connects thousands of businesses, large and small, whose relationships cross cultural and political boundaries. In this world, the multinational corporations, the unions, the NGOs, the national governments, and even the money of the international labor, of the mercantile exchange, of finance, in a phase of uncertainty and experimentation, in search of new addresses strategic and / or new institutional structures in order to better govern employment and work itself. However, there are great uncertainties as to the probable success of this research, first of all as regards their ability to deal with three topics concerning labor relations in a global economy: a fair salary, decent working conditions and healthy work), and the right to associate.

In order to deal with these unknowns, Locke, and his group of doctoral students, have developed a series of studies on the conditions of work within the various supply chains; today's presentation comes from these studies.
