Course in Hebrew Palaeography

For over a decade, LECE has organised a specialised Course in Hebrew Codicology and Palaeography, in collaboration with the Department of Cultural Heritage at the University of Bologna, the École Pratique des Hautes Études (Paris) and the École française de Rome.

The course is designed for students, PhD candidates, researchers, and anyone interested in deepening their knowledge of Hebrew manuscripts and scripts.

Course Features

  • Format: theoretical lectures and practical workshop sessions.
  • Faculty: the Course is taught by a panel of leading national and international experts.
  • Schedule: held in September, spanning 2-3 days.
  • Location: based in Ravenna, with study visits to libraries and manuscript collections in the surrounding region.
  • Prerequisite: a basic knowledge of the Hebrew language is required.
