The WET project was represented at the 76th International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2025), held in Sydney, Australia, from 29 September to 3 October 2025, through a scientific contribution presented by researchers from the University of Stuttgart (USTUTT).
The paper, entitled “Investigation of Novel Regeneratively Cooled Ceramic Thruster for Water Electrolysis Propulsion Systems”, addressed innovative technologies for future water-based propulsion architectures. The work investigated the use of advanced ceramic materials and regenerative cooling concepts to improve the thermal management and operational performance of propulsion systems based on water electrolysis products.
The research is closely aligned with the objectives of WET, which seeks to advance the scientific and technological foundations of water-based electric propulsion. By exploring novel materials and propulsion concepts compatible with water-derived propellants, the study contributes to the development of sustainable and efficient propulsion solutions for future space missions.
The presentation at IAC 2025 provided an opportunity to disseminate ongoing research activities within the international space community and to engage with experts working on advanced propulsion technologies, spacecraft systems, and future exploration missions.
