Type: Outreach
Between 20 and 22 October 2025, Prof. Fabrizio Ponti (University of Bologna) delivered a series of lectures at the International University of Rabat (UIR) dedicated to current research activities in aerospace propulsion.
The lectures provided students with an overview of the research carried out at the Alma Propulsion Laboratory of the University of Bologna, covering a broad spectrum of topics ranging from space propulsion to aeronautical propulsion systems. The programme included presentations on electric propulsion technologies, plasma thruster modelling, sustainable propellants, rocket propulsion, aerospike engines, gas turbines and experimental testing activities.
Particular attention was devoted to current European research initiatives involving the University of Bologna, including the Horizon Europe project WET, which addresses the development of next-generation electric propulsion systems and sustainable solutions for future space missions.
The lecture series offered students the opportunity to interact with ongoing international research activities and to gain insight into the multidisciplinary challenges associated with modern aerospace propulsion.
