SHORT DESCRIPTION: Boer & Compagnie is a small farm on the outskirts of Leuven, a small-town placed in the east of Brussels. In its land it carries on a sustainable agriculture according to the philosophy of social agriculture. Clients are participants and are committed to providing tools and sometimes workforce, in exchange for local, organic and healthy food. Boer & Compagnie believes that agricultural work would be able to create a fairer world where farmers and artisanal workers will have the same fair income, with an activity within everyone's reach. It is for this reason that it refers to the principles of the CSA: shared common agriculture is agriculture carried out by a community.
KEY ACTIVITIES: Boer Compagnie uses its lands for agricultural activities. They grow onions, spelt, wheat, vegetables and flowers and breed cattle and pigs. At the beginning of the season participants sign up online and make their contribution to the activity in relation to the production they want to support, then, they follow step by step the progress of cultivation updated by email. Finally, during the collection of vegetables or during the processing phases, the various fresh or processed products, such as cheese, milk and various cuts of meat, are distributed.
Finally, the company complements its activities with different initiatives such as the Children's Theatre or parties and events, always with the aim of consolidating and involving the community.
