Ommuurde Tuin

SHORT DESCRIPTION: Ommurde Tuin is a farm located in the historic garden of King William III, enclosed by an impressive medieval wall, in the valley of the Renkums stream. Since 1999, every year, the company produces more than 400 different edible plants: vegetables, fruits and herbs from historical, modern and wild species. The company's products have SKAL certification for organic products and are members of Slow Food. 

 

KEY ACTIVITIES: Ommurde Tuin is a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). Everyone can decide to become a shareholder by paying an amount at the beginning of the year and, at the end of the season, they get a part of the harvest by choosing between different packages. In addition, the farm is a reference point for farmers who want to buy rare or ancient varieties of plants.  

For those who want to start a small scale organic garden, following the philosophy of Ommurde Tuin, an annual course of "Agro-ecology in practice" is activated where, the farmers of the company, teach the foundations of the work: the organization of the land, the design of the production plan, the cultivation of vegetables, fruits and herbs, and the optimization of the income.
