Short description: Kilowatt is now beginning is fourth year at “LE SERRE”, a metropolitan hub for innovation and for the promotion of entrepreneurial culture, a place for start-ups incubation, co-working, exhibition, training, events, aggregations and services. The place is located in the heart of bologna, inside the “Giardini margherita” park. The project is coordinated by the municipality of bologna with the contribution of the Emilia-Romagna region, the Golinelli foundation, Kilowatt and ASTER, which come to life in 650 square meters inside the “Giardini Margherita. The goal is to give life to investors in order to promote private and public programs, to organize inclusive cultural events and to offer the city a place for cultural growth, contamination, education and integration.
Key activities: “le serre” is enriched with activities and projects: co-working space, which contains resident workstation, a room for events and workshops, a shared kitchen and a meeting room. Educational service kw baby, a place designed to reconcile the needs of families for flexibility related to jobs. The collective vegetable garden, which open to all the citizens and runs by volunteers. Ethical food shopping, a sustainable way to shop collectively by preferring healthy and organic food with a short distribution chain (the delivery take place at the “le serre” every two weeks). The shared place at “le serre”, a multipurpose room available to everyone for educational activities, presentation and workshops. “capsula”, an urban market where people can find a selection of design and music projects.
Business model: hybrid model. Kilowatt works with institutional and non-institutional subjects and with private and public sector. The governance included profit activities which supports the non profit ones
