Short description: a group of pioneers from a south city in Israel (Beer-Sheva), founded at 2007, in order to develop and promote sustainable urban agriculture project and to create a system of locally-grown foods. This system strength community, environmental and economic development. Earth’s Promise is transforming neglected areas into productive ones that grow vegetables and communities, thus raising the quality-of-life within urban settings throughout the Negev (the south district in Israel). Earth’s Promise is running an organic urban farm, community gardens, food forests and educational programs that connect people to the earth while expressing and allowing various traditions and cultures to exist together.
Key activities- “Earth’s promise” are providing different activities in one place: The urban farm, founded in 2014, for the purpose of providing fresh, local, organic produce to the city residents. The place also serves as experimental learning center where tours and courses are given, active community workshop and the sales hub for the organic produce. A food forest, which serves as a meeting place for birds, butterflies, bees and people. “kalisher community garden”, a source of pride and bridge in order to integrate the ethiopian community with urban agriculture. The place also runs a public celebration in order to promote the way of community life style. “Earth’s promise” helps to incorporate neighborhood women that cannot holds jobs into a local productive initiative while increasing their income by hosting traditional cultural meals cooked from the farm vegetables.
