FlyTech is an Italian manufacturer of custom electronics for lighting. Since 2016, the company promotes an intensive research and innovation programme on LED lighting for horticulture. It is an innovative startup made up of three students from the University of Bologna who participated in the 2019 edition of UrbanFarm. The company offers consultancy on design and implementation of aquaponic systems and have created demonstrative indoor and outdoor hydroponic gardens in restaurants and co-working spaces in the city of Bologna. The startup company Aquaponic Design is a clear example of how a student team formed within the UrbanFarm challenge can turn ideas into an entrepreneurial project.

The aim of the ISHS is to promote and encourage research and education in all branches of horticultural science and to facilitate cooperation and knowledge transfer on a global scale through its symposia and congresses, publications and scientific structure.
